Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • 3–5 fresh mint leaves
  • 3 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 1/2 oz Cointreau or triple sec
  • 6 oz tequila blanco, añejo, or your choice of gin or vodka
  • 6 oz cranberry juice, unsweetened or lightly sweetened
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt for rimming the glass
  • Cranberries for garnish

Method

Step 1: Prepare the Glass
  1. Take a lime wedge and rub it around the rim of your glass. Then dip the rim into kosher salt for that perfect salty edge.
Step 2: Muddle the Mint
  1. In a cocktail shaker, add fresh mint leaves. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press down on the leaves. This releases their essential oils, creating a fragrant base.
Step 3: Add the Liquid Ingredients
  1. Pour in your tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, cranberry juice, and simple syrup. Add a bit of orange zest for that festive touch.
Step 4: Shake
  1. Fill the shaker with ice and secure the lid tightly. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. Enjoy that satisfying shake!
Step 5: Serve
  1. Strain the mixture into your prepared glass filled with ice. Add a few fresh cranberries and a mint sprig for garnish.

Notes

  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh lime juice and mint make a noticeable difference.
  • Chill Your Glasses: Chill your glassware for an extra refreshing touch.
  • Adjust Sweetness to Taste: Play with the simple syrup based on your sweetness preference.
  • Experiment with Garnishes: Besides cranberries, try pomegranate seeds, or a slice of lime!
  • Make a Pitcher: Scale up the recipe for parties. Just multiply the ingredients and serve in a pitcher.
